The allegation of dialyzer theft at Faridpur Medical College Hospital has created new concerns about the security of government healthcare. Sensational information is coming out after an auto driver was detained by the public from an area called Chowrangi More in the city’s Jhiltuli area.
The arrested person is Rabiul Mia (52), a resident of Boalmari Upazila. He used to drive a battery-powered auto rickshaw. The public claims that he was detained under suspicious circumstances while transporting valuable dialyzers used in the hospital’s government dialysis unit in an auto rickshaw.
Police activity after the incident
After receiving the news, the Kotwali police station quickly reached the spot. SI Nur prepared a seizure list and took the auto driver along with the recovered goods to Faridpur Medical College Hospital. An investigation into the source of the incident has begun by collecting and analyzing CCTV footage.
New twist in auto driver’s statement
Attack Rabiul Mia said-
Senior nurse in charge Nadira Akhter, who is in charge of the second floor of the old building of the hospital, supplied the goods from the ground floor store room. Some of the thieves are accomplices of the gang. After this statement came out, there has been widespread discussion and criticism inside the hospital.
Questions about the key and responsibility of the store room
Senior nurse in charge Nadira Akhter told reporters,
The key to the store room is usually with her. However, if necessary, she brings equipment from the store through ward employees Md. Salauddin and Zahurul Islam.
On the other hand, Md. Salauddin said-
On April 29, at approximately 12:30 pm, she brought the goods from the store and locked it again.
Confusion and suspicion
This is where a big question arises-

If the store was closed at noon, how did the goods come out in the afternoon?

Who was in control of the store room key?
How legal is it to give the key to someone other than the responsible in-charge? The CCTV footage shows the auto driver and another thief talking quietly several times and looking around.
According to the security policy of healthcare institutions, the entire process of opening the store room, taking out the equipment and re-locking it should be done in the presence of the in-charge. But here, Nadira Akhter has clearly admitted to violating that rule.
Response of the hospital authorities
Hospital director Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir Ahmed said,
A three-member committee has been formed to investigate the incident, which will submit a report within five working days. Arrangements will be taken after the report.
Locals complain,
This is not a one-day incident. For a long time, an unscrupulous thief gang has been active inside the hospital, who smuggle medicines and medical equipment outside. Such theft is not possible without the connivance of some unscrupulous officials and employees of the hospital.
Public anger and frustration
Where poor patients are struggling to get life-saving treatment like dialysis and are walking on the road to death, and allegations of theft of government equipment have created intense public anger.
Many are raising the question
“If the equipment that saves the patient’s life is not safe inside the hospital, then where will the common man go?”
The general public expresses anger saying that this would not have happened again and again if there was a transparent investigation and strict punishment.
Conscious circles are insisting that

The cat in the bag will come out only after verifying the statement of the auto driver and questioning all those involved.

The real culprits should be identified by analyzing the CCTV footage and bringing them to justice.

The entire process of store management should be audited in this regard.

Departmental and criminal action should be taken against those involved.

This incident at Faridpur Medical College Hospital is not just an allegation of theft—it raises questions about the accountability and security of the entire health system.
If the investigation proves that any person or group within the hospital is involved in this, then it is the demand of the hour to ensure exemplary punishment against them.
People’s expectations – ensuring transparency, accountability and a safe Faridpur Medical College Hospital system free from brokers.
