A youth named Rafiqul Islam (18) committed suicide by hanging himself over a family feud in Sadarpur upazila of Faridpur. The incident took place at around 8:30 am on Monday (May 11) in Munshi village of Bhashanchar union of the upazila.

The deceased Rafiqul Islam is the son of Sek Shukur Ali of that village.

The deceased’s brother-in-law Rubel Mia said that Rafiqul did not do any work. He often had arguments and disagreements with his family members over this. On Monday morning, Rafiqul tried to commit suicide by tying a towel around the door of his house in the absence of anyone in the house. The family members, upon realizing the matter, quickly rescued him and took him to Sadarpur Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty there declared him dead after conducting an examination.

Confirming the truth of the incident, Sadarpur Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Afzal Hossain said:

A post-mortem report of the deceased has been prepared in this regard. Preparations are underway to file an accidental death (UD) case in the police station in this regard. The process of sending the body to the morgue of Faridpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy is underway.
