Based on a secret tip-off, a joint force combed an unauthorized baby food manufacturing factory called Shahi Food Products in the area adjacent to Kanaipur Bazar in Faridpur Sadar Upazila and sealed fake baby food.
The raid was conducted from 12 noon to 4 pm on Saturday, June 28-25. During this joint force raid at the factory, army, executive magistrate and police members participated. Various types of unauthorized chips, jellies, litchi drinks and juice cans were seized in the said baby food
raid. At this time,
Mobile Court Judge and Faridpur Sadar Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Israt Jahan was present at the spot and fined the company one lakh taka and ordered to seal the factory at the same time. According to confidential sources, the factory had been manufacturing baby food and juice drinks without permission for a long time. These products were marketed in fake packets of various domestic companies with tags and labels resembling famous brands. During this time, it was seen that harmful colors and flavors were used in the foods, which are seriously risky for the human body and there is a risk of contracting cancer. Regarding the raid on the adulterated factory, UNO Israt Jahan said, “We are conducting this raid on the allegation of producing baby food without permission. The truth of the allegations was found in the raid, so according to the law, the owner of the Shahifood factory has been fined one lakh taka and appropriate action has been taken against him. After the raid on the Shahifood factory, the army informed journalists and the general public that the army is working relentlessly with a zero tolerance policy against illegal weapons, drugs, adulterated food, extortion and terrorism. I urge everyone to help the army camp by providing information to curb such crimes in your area.
